Breeders' Cup 2026 Results: All 14 Winners

Update (Nov. 1, 2026): Sovereignty won the $7 million Longines Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Keeneland. The Puma was second and Knightsbridge third, over 1¼ miles on a fast track. Seven horses ran after Magnitude's scratch.

Breeders' Cup 2026: Dates and Place

The rest of this page is the record of the weekend: the schedule, the TV coverage and the morning-line favorites.

Breeders' Cup 2026 was Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31, at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky. The final race order, announced Oct. 21, moved three Saturday races, and the Oct. 26 draw made defending champion Forever Young the 2-1 Classic favorite from post 5.

It was the 43rd Breeders' Cup: 14 Grade 1 championship races worth more than $34 million in purses and awards. A total of 186 horses were entered on Oct. 26, 62 of them from outside North America.

It was Keeneland's fourth time as host, after 2015, 2020 and 2022. American Pharoah capped his Triple Crown year with a Classic win here in 2015, and Flightline won the 2022 Classic by a record 8¼ lengths. This year, Championship Saturday also landed on Halloween.

Every championship race is a Grade 1, the top level in the sport, and every runner is a Thoroughbred (meet the breed in our breeds guide). Times are Eastern Daylight Time. "Turf" means grass; "dirt" is the main track.

Friday, Oct. 30: Future Stars Friday

First post was 11:55 a.m. ET. Five undercard races came first, and the championship races started with Race 6 at 2:55 p.m.

All five Friday championship races were for 2-year-olds, called juveniles. The day is a first look at the 2027 Triple Crown trail, because many Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks hopefuls start out here.

The Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies were Friday's richest races, at $2 million each. We don't have a separate Juvenile Fillies Turf preview, so that link goes to the full draw.

Saturday, Oct. 31: Championship Saturday

First post was 11:15 a.m. ET, with three undercard races before the Filly & Mare Sprint at 1:10 p.m. The Classic was back in its traditional spot as the last race of the weekend.

The Dirt Mile has no preview of its own yet, so its link also goes to the draw. The Turf ($5 million) and the Classic ($7 million) were the two richest races. Official names include sponsors, such as the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic.

What changed from September. The time slots stayed, but three races swapped. The Filly & Mare Sprint moved from 3:42 to 1:10 p.m., the Dirt Mile from 1:10 to 2:26 p.m. and the Sprint from 2:26 to 3:42 p.m. That also moved the Sprint onto NBC and the Filly & Mare Sprint onto USA Network.

How the Breeders' Cup Aired on TV and Streaming

NBC Sports had 10½ hours of live coverage across both days, including all 14 championship races. Here's where each race aired:

• Friday, 1-6 p.m. ET, USA Network and Peacock: undercard Races 3-5 and all five championship races.
• Saturday, 1-3:30 p.m. ET, USA Network and Peacock: Filly & Mare Sprint, Turf Sprint, Dirt Mile and Filly & Mare Turf.
• Saturday, 3:30-6:30 p.m. ET, NBC and Peacock: Sprint, Mile, Distaff, Turf and Classic.
• FanDuel TV, both days: every championship and undercard race, on the Breeders' Cup Players' Show. The first races of each day were on FanDuel TV only.
• Official channels: the Breeders' Cup streamed on BreedersCup.com, its app and its YouTube, Facebook and X accounts. BreedersCup.com/Live had more than 12 live streams, including a Jockey Cam, Paddock Cam and Drone Cam.
• Race week: "Breakfast at the Breeders' Cup" ran on FanDuel TV and Breeders' Cup digital channels each morning through Thursday, Oct. 29.
• In Spanish: DRF en Español covered the week on drfenespanol.com, YouTube and X, with its "Desayunos en la Breeders' Cup" show from 7 a.m. ET through Oct. 31. It promised race-day coverage but hadn't posted race-day hours when we checked. The Breeders' Cup and NBC hadn't listed a Spanish-language U.S. TV broadcast.
• Latin America: the Breeders' Cup listed ESPN and Disney+ as its broadcasters in Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

• Eastern: 6:16 p.m.

The Draw in Brief: Classic Favorite and Storylines

Post positions were drawn Monday, Oct. 26, at Keeneland, and Magnitude was later scratched from the Classic. Here's what stood out before the races:

• The Classic had seven starters after Magnitude's scratch. Forever Young (2-1) drew post 5, 2025 Horse of the Year Sovereignty (5-2) post 2, and Knightsbridge (9-2) post 7. Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo was 5-1 from post 3. See the whole field in our Classic field and odds guide.
• Two Derby winners met. Sovereignty (2025) and Golden Tempo (2026) made this the first Classic with two Kentucky Derby winners since 1991.
• A shot at history. Forever Young won last year's Classic. A second win would have made him only the second two-time Classic winner, after Tiznow (2000-01).
• Decisions made. Knightsbridge and Napoleon Solo chose the Classic over the Dirt Mile, and Further Ado went the other way, as the 2-1 Dirt Mile favorite from the rail.
• The weekend's shortest price was Englishman, 4-5 in the Sprint, drawn widest in post 13. Hughes was even money (1-1) in Friday's Juvenile.
• New riders. Irad Ortiz Jr. was injured and rode no one. Who took over his six horses has the replacements.

Horse-care corner: what's a hoof abscess?

Sovereignty's road to the Classic included a hoof abscess in September. A hoof abscess is a pocket of infection trapped inside the hoof, and because the hoof wall can't swell outward, pressure builds and a horse can go suddenly and badly lame on one leg.

Owners often notice heat in the hoof and a stronger-than-normal pulse at the back of the fetlock. Most abscesses improve with prompt care from a vet or farrier. Learn the warning signs in our health basics guide.
