Schleich's HORSE CLUB Ride West: Release Date, Platforms and Price

Saddle up! Horse Club Ride West, the new video game based on Schleich's HORSE CLUB toys, gallops onto consoles and PC on Friday, October 9, 2026. The Switch version costs $39.99 on the US Nintendo eShop, where preorders are open, and a new customization trailer shows how you can style your rider and horse.

Here's what kids and parents want to know before launch day: when it comes out, where you can play it, what it costs and whether it's a good fit for your family.

Horse Club Ride West release date, platforms and price

Horse Club Ride West comes out on October 9, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on Steam. On the US Nintendo eShop it costs $39.99 and is rated E for Everyone.

The game is made and published by Wild River Games, the German studio behind the earlier HORSE CLUB Adventures games. The Switch version also runs on Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo's page says it plays the same way there.

Prices can change, and prices outside the US are different. If you want the PS5, Xbox or Steam version, look at the store again in launch week.

What you need to play

• Switch: about 2 GB of free space (1.6 GB on Switch 2). You can play on the TV, on a tabletop or in handheld mode.
• PC: Windows 10 or newer, 8 GB of memory and 4 GB of free space, according to Steam.
• Players: one player at a time.

What is Horse Club Ride West about?

In Horse Club Ride West you travel with four best friends, Hannah, Sofia, Sarah and Lisa, to the Wild River Ranch in the American West. You explore, help old and new friends, learn Western riding and get ready for a big Western riding tournament where you try to win the crown.

The world is big and full of places to discover. The studio promises deserts, deep canyons, hot springs, abandoned mines, waterfalls, cactus oases and giant railway bridges, plus treasure to hunt for.

Things you can do in the game

• Ride six horses, and each one has its own personality
• Race around barrels in barrel racing and zigzag through poles in pole bending
• Play 8 mini-games, including archery, painting and playing the guitar
• Dress up your rider and style your horse with lots of customization choices
• Listen to an original soundtrack by Grammy-winning composer Winifred Phillips

Wild River Games shared its first gameplay trailer earlier in September and a customization trailer on September 18. Remember that the game isn't out yet, so nobody outside the studio has played the finished version. Launch-week reviews will tell us whether it's worth it.

How Ride West compares with Horse Club Adventures

Ride West is Wild River Games' next HORSE CLUB adventure. The studio's two earlier games, Horse Club Adventures and Horse Club Adventures 2: Hazelwood Stories, starred the same four friends.

What's new in Ride West

• A brand-new Western world instead of Lakeside and Hazelwood
• Fast Western events like barrel racing and pole bending
• New activities such as archery, painting and guitar

What stays the same

• The same four friends from the Schleich toys
• Riding and exploring a big open world
• Lots of dress-up for riders and horses
• Music by Winifred Phillips, who also scored the earlier games

Right now the two older games cost $29.99 each on the US Nintendo eShop and $14.99 each on Steam. On Steam, players rate the first game "Very Positive" and the second "Positive," so they're a cheaper way to try HORSE CLUB while you wait.

From toy box to game screen: the Schleich connection

HORSE CLUB is one of Schleich's toy worlds. Its figures, horses and stables tell the story of four best friends, Hannah, Sofia, Lisa and Sarah, at Lakeside, a riding estate surrounded by fields and forests.

Schleich sorts its HORSE CLUB sets into age groups, from 3 to 4 years old all the way up to 11 and older. Schleich also has a HORSE CLUB app with mini-games where you look after a virtual foal.

Parents' note: is Horse Club Ride West OK for kids?

By the official ratings, yes. It's rated ESRB E (Everyone) in the US and Canada, PEGI 3 in Europe and USK 0 in Germany, which all mean the game is considered suitable for all ages.

Here's a quick checklist before you buy:

• One player: the store pages list it as a single-player game and don't mention online chat.
• Reading: there's a story with characters. Steam lists full voice acting in English, French and German, but younger kids who are still learning to read may like a grown-up nearby.
• Languages: the US Nintendo eShop lists English, French, German, Dutch and Polish, and Steam adds Swedish. Spanish is not listed right now.
• Spending: the store pages we checked don't mention in-game purchases, but it's smart to turn on purchase approval anyway.
• Flashing lights: like other games, Nintendo's page includes the standard warning for players with epilepsy or seizures.
• Screen time: Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and Steam all have parental controls for play time and spending.

Game riding vs. real riding

In the game, barrel racing and pole bending take just a few button presses. In real life they are fast Western speed events that horses and riders practice for years.

• Barrel racing: horse and rider gallop a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels, and the fastest time wins.
• Pole bending: horse and rider weave in and out of a line of six poles and then race back.
• Real riders wear a helmet every time and start slowly with a trainer and a calm, experienced horse.
