Sponsor Terms

The terms for businesses that buy a sponsored card on Horse Academy: packages or pay per view or click, charged only after approval, targeting, review, delivery, reports and what we can stop.

Last updated: October 29, 2026.

These terms apply to businesses that buy a sponsored card on Horse Academy (horseacademy.com). By booking, you agree to them, to the content policy and to the refund rules. Questions: contact@horseacademy.com.

Who can book

  • You must be 18 or older and book for a business. You confirm this when you sign in.
  • You are responsible for your card, your link and the page it leads to, and for following the laws that apply to your business and your ads in every country and region where your card can show.
  • You are responsible for every claim your card and landing page make, including health claims: each must be true, not misleading and backed by evidence you can show us on request, and you must hold any licence or registration your product or service needs (see the content policy).

What you buy

  • A package: one card on the trend articles of one section (or all of them) in the language you choose, for a set number of days, or an event sponsorship on the articles about one event over that event's dates.
  • Or a budget campaign: you choose pay per view (US$5 for every 1,000 viewable impressions) or pay per click (US$0.50 a click), your targeting, a budget from US$25 and your dates. We bill only the viewable impressions or clicks your card actually gets, up to your budget, spread evenly over your dates. When the campaign ends, the unspent part is refunded to your card automatically. Each browser counts at most once per hour for views and once per hour for clicks.
  • Prices are shown before you pay, in US dollars. There is no auction and no bidding.
  • Targeting. You can choose the articles' section and language, and readers' countries and, in some countries, regions (such as a US state or a Spanish autonomous community). We read the reader's country and region from their connection only when we choose a card, and don't store it. Narrow targeting means fewer views, and a card for some regions only is not shown when we can't tell a reader's region.
  • Charged only after approval. At checkout, Stripe places a hold on your payment card for the price or budget. We charge it only when we approve your card. If we decline it, or don't review it within 5 days, the hold is released and you are not charged. We never invoice or bill afterward.
  • No guaranteed traffic. Your report shows the viewable impressions (at least half of the card on screen for one second, counted once per browser per hour) and clicks your card actually received. We don't promise a number.
  • One card shows per page. When several sponsors match the same page, we choose by the expected value of one view (the per-view rate, or the per-click rate times the expected click rate; packages count at the per-view rate), and cards that are close take turns. Your card can share pages with our own cards when nothing is booked.

Review

  • Every card passes automatic checks first. Then a person reviews every card before it runs, usually within one business day and always within 5 days.
  • We can refuse or remove any card that breaks the content policy, and we can change our mind about a card that was approved if the card or its landing page changes.
  • If your card is not approved, the hold on your payment card is released and you are not charged. If you paid from your balance, the money goes back to your balance (see the refund rules).

When it runs

  • A package starts on the date you choose, or when your card is approved if that is later, and then runs for the full number of days. An event sponsorship runs over the event's own dates. A budget campaign runs between your dates (from approval, if that is later) and stops early if its budget is spent.
  • Sponsored cards appear only on trend articles, labeled "Sponsored". They never appear in the Kids section (the Kids and Play pages and the games and quizzes they link to) or on articles written for kids.
  • The site may be briefly unavailable, and pages change as news moves. Short outages don't extend a campaign.

Privacy

Sponsored cards are contextual and cookie-free. You may not add pixels, scripts or tracking to the card, and we don't share anything about readers with you. Your link may include your own campaign tags (such as utm_source). How we handle your account data is in the privacy policy.

Stopping a campaign

  • You can cancel a campaign before it starts from your report page. A hold on your card is released. A package already paid goes back to your balance; a budget already paid goes back to your card.
  • We can pause or stop a campaign at once if a payment is disputed or refunded, if the card or landing page breaks the content policy, or to protect readers.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes apply to bookings made after that date.
