Routine
A set of steps done in the same order regularly.

What it means
A routine is a set of steps done in the same order at about the same time each day, like feeding, turnout, grooming, and checking water. Barns also have routines for tacking up, riding, and putting horses away. Good routines are written down so everyone does things the same way.
Why it matters
Horses are creatures of habit, and a predictable day helps many of them stay calm. A routine also makes it easier for people to notice when something is off, such as a horse that leaves its feed or stands in a corner.

Try this
Use the same order every time you groom and tack up, and say the steps out loud while you learn. A consistent order means you are less likely to forget something important, like checking the girth.
Common mistake
Skipping the routine when you're in a hurry is when mistakes happen. If you are short on time, do fewer things, but do them in order and do them well.
